TW: sexual assault

On October 5, 2017 The New York Times published the article "Harvey Weinstein Paid Off Sexual Harassment Accusers for Decades", written by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey.

Five days later, The New Yorker published Ronan Farrow's story, "From Aggressive Overtures To Sexual Assault: Harvey Weinstein's Accusers Tell Their Stories".

Both of them about one same powerful man that got away with sexual abuse for decades. And both of them winners of the Pulitzer prize in 2018.

In "Catch and Kill", Farrow tells us the story behind his story. It is an unputdownable account of what he went through to write it - the thorough research and interviews he did, but also his struggles with NBC News to go public with it, and even finding himself braving through threats and being spied on.

A great work of investigative journalism, this book is about the victims' stories and their great courage of risking everything by going public with the abuse they suffered from Harvey Weinstein. It is about how, for decades, Weinstein used his power to maintain a conspiracy of silence and continue to sexually assault women.

It is also about the thorough work that Farrow had to do to attain these women's voluntary testimonies, and his unwavering commitment to them to not let anyone shut the story down. You can really tell how invested he was in helping them have their vTW:oices heard and how what they went through impacted their lives.

Furthermore, Farrow introduces us into the struggles within his own family - his adopted sister Dylan having been molested by his father, Woody Allen - and how that strengthened his commitment to the victims.

Fast-paced and written as a non-fiction thriller, this book truly gets you hooked from beginning to end.
